Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this program best suited for?

Our programs are most suitable for children or teens (ages 7-19) with anxiety and/or a disability that affects their learning. We also find that our program is most successful for students with a current interest in Minecraft!

What devices does my child need for this program and why?

For the best learning experience, students should have a tablet and/or a computer that is capable of running Minecraft’s Bedrock Edition, a device with a microphone and video camera for Zoom communication, and a printer for course materials. Please refer to Minecraft’s website for a full list of computer system requirements.

What are the class durations and timings?

Lessons take place on weekdays and are 25 or 55 minutes long based on student needs. Each lesson ends 5 minutes before the hour or half hour to wrap up and set up for the next student’s class. Students are limited to one lesson per day as each custom lesson plan requires 60 minutes of lesson preparation. Please see our current class time availability here.

When can I register my child or teen for classes?

We welcome you to fill out our program intake form for new students at any point during the year, so that we are able to begin coordinating suitable programs and prepare our lesson plans! We open registration for classes in August, December, and March for new families. Class semesters are two and a half months, and begin in September (fall), January (winter), and April (spring).

What happens if my child or teen misses a lesson? What if we know we’ll miss several lessons?

Remember that your commitment helps us help more students! As it is in the student’s best interest, we encourage parents to help their child or teen maintain as consistent of a schedule as possible.

If a day must be missed (e.g. for an appointment), we ask that you let us know in advance if possible. While we will try our best to reschedule a class, we will make up lessons at our discretion due to our busy schedule. Students will have to pay for missed lessons if a third-party will not pay for them. We hire a Minecraft education expert to help plan lessons with us, and if you miss your lesson, we have a team scheduled to work on your child’s lesson that still needs to be paid.

As we have limited availability and a student wait list, if you cancel your classes while away for a number of days (or on vacation), please note that you could possibly lose your original time slot to another student. We have had many students successfully continue their classes remotely while they’ve been away or on vacation, so you may not have to cancel your classes at all!

What are my payment options?

Most families opt for the monthly pricing plans due to the significant savings. These plans are pre-booked a month in advance, but hourly classes are also available. Please see our pricing plans here. Whether you are paying for these programs on your own or have a supporting organization funding them, we will arrange payment information upon registration. We accept cheque and e-transfer.

What if I need to reduce my current plan?

If you wish to decrease the number of your monthly tutoring lessons or reduce your class time, we require at least 14 days' notice. This notice period allows us to manage scheduling and staffing adjustments and ensures that we are able to offer the available slots to other students. Class reduction adjustments will apply to the following month.

What is your class cancellation policy?

For plan cancellations, please give us at least 48 hours notice and we will be in touch as soon as possible. You will be invoiced for any classes already taken at the end of the month.
